Kathie de Palo

As we mentioned last night, our clever-clogs friend, fellow Hunters Hill Quilter and accountant is also a very beautiful quilter, who is features in the Meet a Quilter section of this month's Down Under Quilts. Shown are several of Kathie's amazing quilts, as well as the story of how she came to be a quilter. This very unassuming lady doesn't realise quite how talented she is with colour and with her meticulous piecing, and Kath and I are both proud to have her as part of the Material Obsession team.

Her lovely quilt, Softly, Softly, shown above left, is available as a kit or a pattern from MO.
As usual our good friend Erica Spinks, Down Under editor extrodinaire, has delivered a beautiful issue, including a profile of another of our fav Australian quilters, Judy Hooworth, some great projects, an interesting article about working with plaids and another about tracing from photos to use images in quilts - a really interesting thing to learn how to do, and one I love to use myself! Also featured is my quilt, The Big Pineapple, shown above. I made this quilt using Amy Butler's Charm range, and it was terriffic fun to make. I especially enjoyed picking the fabric combinations for each block, and the way the blue fabric created the lines that run through the quilt. If you're overseas and can't get DUQ, and would like the pattern, it is available from MO for $20 AUS.
Check out this issue of DUQ, it's fabulous as usual, and look out tomorrow for the next installment of the stories from Quilt Camp. Sarah :)
